Young Soul Rebels at Toronto's Inside Out Festival
On Sunday, February 23, Toronto's Inside Out Film and Video Festival screened Isaac Julien's 1991 film Young Soul Rebels, a journey into 1970s Britain and the counterculture movements pushing for change through friendship, love, and some beautiful music.
Inside Out Festival, which celebrated thirty five years of existence last May, has a programme called Looking Back which shows films from past seasons. As the introductory remarks to the film explained at Sunday's screening, Isaac Julien's gift of Young Soul Rebels has been one of the greatest things that happened to the festival.
