On April 24, SFMOMA’s Art Bash raised a record-breaking $3.4 million in support of the museum’s education and family programs and community engagement events.
For SFMOMA's annual Art Bash gala, Isaac Julien has created a unique installation that reimagines his work Ten Thousand Waves (2010) in dialogue with his most recent work Once Again... (Statues Never Die) from 2022. As visitors entered the installation, they were surrounded with Julien’s striking imagery. This place for poetic contemplation is what the artist calls a diasporic dream-space, where a new counter-imaginary emerges.
