Looking for Langston in Fashioning Masculinities: The Art of Menswear
Photography from Isaac Julien's Looking for Langston series, culled from his 1989 film of the same name - a reflection on the life and times of African-American poet Langston Hughes - is presented alongside print, paint, sculpture and film works compromising 100 years of men's fashion at the Victoria & Albert Museum's Fashioning Masculinities: The Art of Menswear.
At a moment of unprecedented creativity in men's fashion and reflection on gender, this exhibition explores how designers, tailors and artists – and their clients and sitters – have constructed and performed masculinity, and unpicked it at the seams.
Fashioning Masculinities: The Art of Menswear is on view, now, until November 6, 2022
