'Lessons of the Hour' debut in Amsterdam

Having the single-screen film installation Lessons of the Hour as a centrepiece, an exhibition at Ron Mandos Gallery in Amsterdam is the European première of Isaac Julien's 2019 work dedicated to the revolutionary African American abolitionist and thinker. 

The solo exhibition by the artist also features 12 photographs from the series alongside Julien’s first film Who Killed Colin Roach? from 1983. Both works prophetically resonate with the current debates around Black Lives Matter and question our relationship to abolitionism and race equality.
