True North at the Guangzhou Image Triennial
Since it was opened to the public in 1997, the Guangdong Museum of Art in Guangzhou (Canton), China, has been promoting the research and presentation of Chinese art of modern and contemporary periods. One of its core projects is the Guangzhou Image Triennial, created in 2002 to activate the international artistic dialogue at the museum.
The 2021 edition, which takes place after the postonement of the 2020 exhibitions, is collaboratively curated by Gerardo Mosquera, Hyperimage Group (Dong Bingfeng, Xiang Zairong, Teng Yuning) and Yang Beichen around the theme Rethinking Collectivity. Isaac Julien is among the participating artists, with two photographs from his series True North. The exhibition is open until the 29th of May.
