European premiere of Lessons of the Hour at Kino der Kunst
The fourth edition of Kino der Kunst festival in Munich is this year dedicated to a theme of Forbidden Beauty. Why is the concept of beauty so frowned upon in contemporary art, asks Kino der Kunst, while investigating how can art free itself from the dictate of commerciality? This year’s edition of the festival wants to show that the art of the moving image can take up the urgent themes of our time in a highly aesthetic visual language.
Movie theatres and museums all over Munich present the International Competition as well as supporting programmes, artists’ talks, symposia and multi-channel installations. In International Competition, as part of the programme Politics & Beauty, Isaac Julien’s single-screen version of Lessons of the Hour will have its European premiere on Friday, 30th at Theatiner Filmkunst and Saturday, 31st of October at Kinos der HFF.
