Lessons of the Hour at the MAG in Rochester
In the spring of 2019, the Memorial Art Gallery, University of Rochester, New York hosted the world premiere of Lessons of the Hour, a 10-screen video installation by Isaac Julien.
The immersive media artwork was commissioned by the Memorial Art Gallery and inspired by episodes in the life of Frederick Douglass (1818–1895), as well as by the issues of social justice that shaped Douglass’ life’s work.
Isaac Julien Studio is happy to announce that from 20–23 August access to the single-channel version of Isaac Julien’s Lessons of the Hour will be made available to watch courtesy of the Memorial Art Gallery.
See the extended reality (XR) exhibition Isaac Julien: Photographic works from Lessons of the Hour — Frederick Douglass, exclusively online and in our virtual gallery on the VorticCollect app.
